Meow Metronome

Privacy Policy

Privacy policy

Your practice data
belongs to you.

Effective August 31, 2026, and last updated September 6, 2026. Meow Metronome is a local-first practice utility. This policy explains what the current version processes and how you can manage or delete that data.

Scope and developer

This policy applies to Meow Metronome for iOS and iPadOS. The developer is Yuhang Hui. For privacy questions, email MeowMetronome@foxmail.com. The app does not require an account operated by the developer.

The app does not connect to a server operated by the developer. Network access is limited to optional iCloud sync through Apple CloudKit, retrieving products and verifying membership through StoreKit and the App Store, and opening the App Store review page, email, or legal web pages when you choose those actions.

Data stored on your device

To provide the metronome, practice history, and statistics, the app stores settings such as BPM, meter, sound, and volume; randomly generated record identifiers; practice start and end times; record source and last-modified time; and state needed to recover an interrupted session. Sync enablement state, the most recent sync time, record count, and sync diagnostics are also stored locally. The developer does not automatically receive this data.

iCloud sync

After you choose to enable sync in Settings and obtain Meow Metronome SUPER access, the app stores record identifiers, start and end times, record source, last-modified time, and deletion markers in your private Apple CloudKit database. This supports sync and conflict merging across devices signed in to the same Apple Account, and restoration after reinstalling the app.

Without a valid entitlement, the sync entry shows a switch and attempting to turn it on opens the SUPER subscription page. With a valid entitlement, the entry shows a disclosure arrow, and the detail shows current sync status and recent logs. Ending or losing membership stops future automatic reads and writes but does not automatically delete local or existing iCloud data.

The data counts against your iCloud storage. The developer does not maintain a server containing these records and cannot browse your private database in CloudKit Console.

Purchases and membership

Apple processes purchases, renewals, refunds, and purchase restoration through the App Store. The app reads Apple-verified product and entitlement status at runtime. The developer does not receive card numbers, payment credentials, or complete Apple Account information.

App Store reviews and privacy contact

The Feedback action opens the App Store review page, where Apple processes review content under its privacy policy and applicable agreements. The Email a Privacy Question action opens the system email experience. The developer receives your sender address, message, and any information you choose to attach only after you send a privacy email. This information is used only to reply and handle the request, not for advertising, profiling, or tracking.

Correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed to complete the conversation, handle related follow-up, or meet applicable legal obligations. You may request deletion by emailing the same address, except where retention is legally required.

Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current version contains no third-party advertising, cross-app or cross-site tracking, third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, data brokers, or sale of user data. The app does not automatically collect your name, email address, contacts, location, advertising identifier, or device identifier. System diagnostics or app analytics you separately choose to share with Apple are processed independently by Apple.

Service providers and safeguards

Meow Metronome uses Apple CloudKit, StoreKit, and App Store services. If you send an email, your chosen outgoing email provider and the developer’s mailbox provider also process that message. A legal website processes a request when you open it. Apple services are governed by the Apple Privacy Policy and applicable agreements; email and web services are governed by their own privacy policies and applicable law.

The developer does not sell user data or provide it to these services for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking. Providers selected by the developer may process data only as needed to deliver the relevant function and must provide protection comparable to or stronger than this policy. If a future version adds another provider that can access user data, this policy and the App Store privacy information will be updated before that provider is enabled.

Retention and deletion

Local practice records remain until you delete the corresponding individual record in Practice History or uninstall the app. When you delete one record, its start time, end time, and source are removed. The app retains only its random identifier and deletion time as a deletion marker so another device does not restore the deleted record. Deletion markers do not expire automatically and are not used for analytics, advertising, or profiling.

You can delete cloud data through system Apple Account and iCloud storage management; exact menu names may vary by system version. System-level cloud deletion does not delete local records on each device. The app stops the current sync when it detects system-level cloud deletion.

The developer cannot remotely browse or delete records in your private CloudKit database, but can provide system-setting instructions by email. Because there is no developer-operated account, there is no separate app account to delete.

Your choices

You may use local features without buying SUPER; try to enable member-only sync and decide whether to subscribe when the SUPER page appears; delete individual records in Practice History; manage or delete this app’s cloud data in system iCloud storage settings; or contact the developer about this policy, deletion of support emails, and data-management guidance.

Policy updates

If data handling materially changes, the developer will update this policy, in-app explanations, and App Store privacy information before enabling the new processing, and will change the date above. Any new processing that requires consent will be presented as a choice before it begins.

Terms and contact

For privacy questions, deletion of support emails, or guidance on deleting iCloud data, email MeowMetronome@foxmail.com. Use of Meow Metronome is also subject to the Apple Standard End User License Agreement.
